Default Yamaha Electric slow in forward, fast reverse

Hi all, looking for some suggestions to try on a 1992 Yamaha G8 electric cart. Bought the cart with no batteries and after putting in a set of used reconditioned batteries from a local battery shop, the cart runs but is slow in forward gear. Put it in reverse and it flies. It will barely go up hills in forward, so I turn it around to make it up easily. The batteries sit at about 38 volts 24 hours after charging. I know the batteries are not as good as fresh ones, but I don't know how that explains the speed difference between forward and reverse. Maybe some miswiring? Any ideas are appreciated.

Wow, this is the first time I've posted on here and not received any response. Usually get some great ideas from the numerous golf cart buffs on the site.

I'm still thinking some wires are crossed up, but I'm kind of hesitant to switch any around for fear of screwing something else up. Anyone?

I hope someone, who knows why your having that issue, responds. I have noticed the same thing on my old Melex cart as well. Reverse seems to be much more powerfull.

I have seen some posts regarding this issue in EZGO and Club Car threads indicating an issue with the wiring on the F/R and/or microswitches. The EZGO thread would probably help you with the Melex.

look under your seat at the small micrositch that activates your reverse buzzer...take one of the wires off and try that cart again...you may be surprised this sometimes works...

Thanks Camaroluvz28! Upon further investigation I found the reverse buzzer loosely laying across the bottom of the battery trays. I unplugged it and checked it for continuity(none). I pulled a battery out so I could follow the wire and found another reverse buzzer bolted in place, no wires going to it. This one also had no continuity. I followed the pink wire that had gone to the first buzzer and removed the wire from the microswitch on top of the F/R and like magic I had normal speeds in forward and reverse.
I wonder if I were to connect the wires together that went to the buzzer if that would have done the same thing. Anyway I'm just happy the cart runs as it should. Thanks again, I knew someone would come through!

I had the exact same problem with my ezgo, the local cart guy replaced one of the switches, and that took care of the problem, unfortunately, I can't tell you what switch.
