Monitor battery charge

I have a g2 yamaha that uses 6 volt batteries. What would you recommend to install to monitor the loan on the batteries.
I used a volt meter, but even though it says it has 36 volts, the batteries are not charged. The cart just won't go or it dies to soon. Thanks.

Welcome Carlos! You are right, At 36 volts (36v) the pack is empty. When fully charged you will read a few volts more.(opinions and your reading may vary)Depending on the health of your batteries. Never run the pack down below 36v. What are the readings on the individual batteries? Can you post all 6 readings here so we can see what you are working with? I like a battery monitor on all my electrics.

Right now each indivicual battery has 6.20 plus/minus 1 volt charge.
I am using a Lester II charger, but I had to by-pass the automatic timer in order to getting going again. So, I don't know how long I need to charge and/or when the batteries need charge. That's why I was asking if there is some kind of "meter" that will let me know the state of the charge in the batteries....and I know, I have to replace the faulty part in the charger. Thanks.

1 Volt variation in battery state of discharge is way too much difference. If all are 6.2 and one is 5.2? You need to replace it. I worry about more than a few tenths, like all 6.2 and one 5.9? I would charge that one seperately until 6.3 and then recharge the pack. And watch the weak one.
There are many monitors avail. They typically do not read voltage. They use a green to red gauge. It is up to you to monitor the gauge at first so you know when to recharge. Never let the pack get below 36v.
