Smile 2008 Yamaha G29 Drive humming after full stop

Just picked up a 08 Yamaha drive and have a couple questions after using it today on the course. When pulling up to play my next shot and coming to a complete stop i hear a humming noise in the rear for about 5 seconds. It goes on just long enough to get out and grab a club and then it will stop. I think i even heard a humming noise for about 2 seconds as i was walking back to the cart after finishing a hole. just on and off again real quick. Does anyone have these symptoms and know what the problem is? I read another thread were they made it sound like his cart had done this and then stopped after 3 full charging cycles. Batteries were purchased in October and don't have any idea how many times it has been charged by seller.

Please take it easy on me as a first time owner and a newbie.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help

it is the solenoid making the noise. There has been many like this that comes from the factory like that. There is nothing wrong with the solenoide. Yes a lot of time just charging the batteries and discharging with fix it.

If the car was still under warranty (2 years on that part), I'd just change it out. If it bug's you, I might recommend changing it out to a high amp "White/Rodger's" style. They just seem more HD them the new one's. And once again I learn something new, I had not been told about charging/discharging from my factory service rep Thanks for the heads up Courtesy

Thanks for your help guys. I did hear it humming while i was about 20 feet away from the cart after parking today. I'm currently on charge number 2 since taking possession, so we will see what happens over time. Do you have a model number to check out in the White/Rodgers style if it does not go away? Also, can it cause any damage by doing this?

Get ahold of Scottyb or other site sponsor for the White/Rodgers 48 volt solenoid. No, should not cause any damage, just anoying.

I have to say LOL on the "just charge and discharge it", i have been dealing with this since they changed to the Trombetta solenoids from the White/Rodgers. i have seen 1 or 2 year old carts come in sounding like there are bees living in the back. I tried installing rubber bushings in between the solenoid and the mounting panel when i was temporarily out of solenoids, and it worked ok.

So can you confirm that switching to the white/Rodgers will take care of the humming?

Yes it will fix it, But it wont be under warranty. for the dealer to replace parts under warranty (and get paid by yamaha), they must order the original part for your cart. A White/Rodgers solenoid will not come in that yamaha part box. The G19-G22 came with W/R solenoid, but even if i order the old JR1 part number, the new relay comes in the box. The old and new parts bolt in the same, no mods needed. If its still in warranty, let them try a new trombetta oem solenoid, they don't all make noise.....Only a few.

It's a 2008. Would it still be under warranty? So if I ordered a white do you have a part number that would be plug and play(no extra parts)? Thanks for everyone's help so far.
