Smile G9 Yamaha stuck in high

My Yamaha G9 seems like it is in high gear and has no torque to go uphill. If I back up a hill it has all the power it needs and goes up hill quite fast. if it starts on flat or after i finally get up the hill it goes quite fast. Batteries are relatively new and have been load tested and are all charged and up to par. it has a new solenoid and new resistors. This is a new problem it was running fine then the next time I went to use it it did this. can i clean the speed controller or is there a way to test it? Help my wife wants it running like it did. this is causing me to lose much needed sleep and i get this nagging sound in my ear, oh that is just my wife. thank you for any help or advice on how to fix this or silence my wife. no guns in your answer please.

Welcome to the forum hagermanc...................

There are 4 things that come to mind................

.....1 bad battery, and noted by charger doesn't charge long.

.....take the cables off and clean the ends where they fit on the terminals.

.....check the cable ends for frayed wires or bad corrosion.

.....solenoid contacts could be burned up.

welcome to BGW

Just for future reference there is no "high gear"....its all done via varying the power to the motor.

As rusty said, check all your connections. Make sure they are clean and tight.....when all that checks out move to the F/R switch and check the contacts.

If it runs good up hill in reverse then it would have to be something in the F/R switch. Does it have the lever in the middle, if so the slides get dirty, there is a contact that slides on the switch much like a retriever on a crane magnet works. CRC Contact Cleaner works really well. Do not use the CRC Degreaser, it will clean the slides really good but it will melt plastic. Hope this helps.
