Lift kit and tires for g29.
I want to lift my 2008 yamaha g29. Probably just for some trail riding and maybe to use as a hunting buggies. Would you recommend a 3 or 6 inch lift? Tire size on each? I was told I could do 22 inch tires on a 3 inch lift? Personally I am leaning towards the 3 inch since these yamahas seem to sit higher. Just black steel wheels are fine can anyone direct me to any lift tire wheel combos out there for my cart and give me your thoughts on lift and tire size. Probably going with a 10 inch wheel. I want a trail tire not something too aggressive

Re: Lift kit and tires for g29.
I have a 6" jakes lift on mine with 23" tires on 12" rims. It looks great IMO and think it would look a little weird with the big tires on a 3" lift if the back would fit without rubbing. Plus as cheap as the 6" lift was, it's good to have the extra clearance if needed rather than not have it if needed.
Just my thoughts |

3" and 22" tires are a good combo IMO. the 6" lift will look good for 25" tires or so. you cna put 20" tires on your cart stock. ALSO having 6" lift and 22" tires it pretty tall. IF you or whom ever is riding it has issues climbing up/down from a truck than they will have issue with the cart.
WHEN I was in the business, I starting putting the 3" kits in instead of the 6" casue the customers liked them better. THEY wern't so tall. |

Re: Lift kit and tires for g29.
My only experience with lifted carts is a 1994 Club Car. The first thing I did was remove the lift kit because the cart rode terribly. Granted it was a Cleatus & Bubba custom job, and I'm assuming a professional kit would ride better.
I'd like to get a little more speed out of my G29 and I think the easiest way to do it would be to put larger wheels/tires on it, so I too am considering a lift kit. My G29 is exclusively used on paved roads, usually with a passenger or 2. I know that there are spindle lifts and a-arm lifts for Club Cars, but I haven't seen many options for G29s. Does anyone have any opinions on a setup that would provide stable, on-road handling for relatively high-speed (with stock tires I get 23 mph) driving on flat ground with 3-4 people on the cart? Thanks, TJ |

Re: Lift kit and tires for g29.
if you are getting 23 mph out of an electric drive with a stock controller, you either have "high speed gears" or Big tires, both of which are hard on a stock controller. thats pretty much maxed out. the problem is, there is no "direct bolt-in" heavy duty controller, Yet........ I have put DCX in a drive, yes i know alltrax says it dont work, but i found a way, motor replacment also required (no field map for hitachi motor) ... if you wanna go "Whole-hog crazy", there are ways to convert it to series and put an SPM800 in there, it aint cheap, but it is fun. (before anyone starts telling me "series aint sepex", i know, search my other Ydre posts)

Re: Lift kit and tires for g29.
To my knowledge the gears are stock. The tires are 205-30-12's. There is a 3rd option. The little speedometer thingy wasn't properly calibrated. The cart is on an island off the coast of NC so the speedometer has long since stopped working because of rust.
Next time I'm down there I'll use a GPS to get a better reading. Thanks, TJ |
