Default Yamaha 48Vcharger JW2-H2107-01. Fan won't come on

Hello all, I'm a newbie to this great site. I have a 2008 Yamaha golf cart and the charger came with it. The charger seems to charge very well, but I noticed it gets very hot and I have not seen the fan come on as of yet. I have charged my cart at least a dozen times since I bought it last month.

Is there a fuse or something that activates the fan? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i asked yamaha that question over and over 'till i got an answer. it only comes on at a crazy hot temp, like 160f. we been selling yamahas since the G1 was still in production (but i have only been there since 2006), never yet seen one of those fans come on in that (poor) charger. why even put the fan in there if you are not gonna use it. i have even probed around in there to find a 12v or 5v source that is only active when plugged into cart, "no dice".

If I have to replace this charger, does anyone out there have a recommendation on which charger to replace it with? This one seemed to work fine, except it got so hot that I really started to get worried leaving it unattended during a charge.

I'm new at owning a golf cart, so I really don't know what chargers rate better than others for good battery life. Thanks everyone.

Thanks cgtech, what do you think about the DPI Accusense charger. They seem to be one of the better ones out there. I like the idea that it "exercises" the battery through the winter months. The only problem is I can't find one at all on the market that has a Yamaha Drive plug on them. Is it a problem getting one with the right plug for my cart? Thanks.

DPI Accusense is good. there are 3 different covers for the ydre, two covers will fit the older style (easy to find) G22 plug. post a picture, ill tell you if it will accept the G22 plug. Luck is on your side, even if your recepticle cover wont accept the G22 plug, its only a cheap cover. ALL Ydre plug recepticles will accept tbe G22 plug. Worst case for you is having to replace the cover, the universal one for all yamaha 48v chargers is called by yamaha "Guide, DC, Export". I dont remember the part number, but post a pic, and ill post a part number tomorrow. Yamaha only offers the Ydre dc cord set as an (expensive) assembly, no handle only. but DPI can send you a charger with the G22 style plug on it, as i said hooking it to a Ydre will be very little problem.

Thanks a million cgtech. I like your little drawing as well. Quick question, the g22 style plug looks like it is a 2 pin plug. Will the 3rd pin that's in the plug just not be used? Sorry for the newbie question and again thanks for the help.
