G16 HD F & R Switch
So I am adding some performance to my 2000 G16 but I am having issues finding the HD F & R Switch for my cart. I am relatively new to this whole scene but I am jumping in with both feet. So I ordered an Alltrax 650 amp controller, a 400 amp solenoid and the AMD Raptor motor for my G16. I am upgrading all of my wiring to 0 awg wiring. I am hoping that someone here can direct me somewhere that I can purchase this switch so that I can install everything as I don’t want to have issues and pull it all apart again. Thanks in advanced for the help!!

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
G16e has a weak FNR, you will need to replace it. but, alas, there are no hd FNR for G16. i convert EZGO HD FNR to fit. the only real modification is to cut and weld the yamaha shift handle splines on the pivot shaft to accomodate the original shift handle. if you remove the entire "diamond-shaped" shift assembly, hold an ezgo fnr behind it. you will see its nearly a match made in heaven...Happy modding.

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
I will admit I can't weld to save my life, so could I use the EZGO HD FNR and use the EZGO handle? I dont know what other options I have.

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
you could probably shorten the spacers on the original to make the shaft stick out enough to use an ezgo handle. i just "ocd" on it till it leaves looking stock, working better than stock.....

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
I agree with that!!! I just want to do it right the first time instead of constantly having issues with it. Is there a reason that they don't sell one for the G16? Is there a possibility that there is a shop that can do this modification on the switch so that all I have to do is slip it in and wire it up?

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
Will my oem switch work for now? Or will it instantly fail?

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
I am doing similar mods to my lifted '96 G14e, and almost without exception, every 'techie' has said to upgrade the "weak" stock f/r switch. There is a guy on here who has done the 'ez-go/yammie' conversion. Let's keep going with specific info and maybe we can help each other along. Brian

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
Sounds good to me, I am still learning as this is my first golf cart and I have not gotten in there and taken anything apart yet so I am a little hesitant. But there is only one way to figure it out and that is to ask questions and get it done right. What are you doing to yours?

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
Also my first cart. Gave to dad for father's day '98, he 're-gifted' it last year. I've lifted it, did wheels & tires, rear flip seat, and front brush guard. Put in new Trojan batteries a month ago, ran great. Was pushing something heavy around property, something burned. Motor ok. Trying to test f/r switch and/or controller. Been told f/r switch is a weak link. Starting there. You?

Re: G16 HD F & R Switch
i have zero faith in the stock G14/16 FNR, seen too many melted ones. i have opened them up, in hopes of rebuilding it, usually it is so warped/melted there is no hope. plus the contacts are puny & thin (thin=low amps only). i have made several Ezgo/Yamaha G16 conversions, and could be convinced to make more. pm me if interested.
