Default G19 Charging Problem

Hi Guys,

I have a 1999 G19E. I attempted to charge it in the spring only to find a cracked battery. I replaced all 6 with Trogan 875s. After I ran it down to 38V I attempted to charge it again. This time the charger wouldn't even turn on to do a self check. So I ordered and replaced the relay and the circuit breaker. Now it turns on and performs it's self-check. But it won't go into the charge mode. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Frank

Hey mate, I believe the charger requires a small current from the batteries in order to activate the charging transformer.

I recently worked on my charger and found that if the batteries were too flat, i needed to either put a little juice into them before the charger would kick on, or if you know an electrician, he could bypass the the relay, allowing the transformer to activate to charge the batteries enough to then re-install the relay, and the batteries will hopefully then have enough juice to activate the charger.

I'm only new to this forum, I hope my own diagnostics can help others! Cheers, Matt

Thanks Matt. The charger never saw the battery V. I guess the controller is supposed to allow the V to go through for the charger but looks like I fried that portion or circuit. I placed jumper cables on the batteries and the charger turned right on. I just have to monitor it since nothing is telling the charger to stop charging. Does anybody on the forum repair controllers?

Glad to be of some help. If you are talking about the charger control like this one - http://www.candccustomsinc.com/batte...rs-48v-96.html

if you take a picture of the burnt board and components, i can tell you what values they are meant to be, and help you fault find it if you have a soldering iron. cheers
