Default DC to DC Voltage Reducer Installation

Newbie here, I am doing a complete conversion on a 1999 Yamaha G19 golf cart into a Hunting buggy. I'm going to put an AC motor in it and program it for 18 HP. My question is: Will any 48v voltage reducer work, with this AC motor? The Madjax reducer I'm looking at says "DC to DC" voltage reducer. Not sure why this wouldn't work. Thanks for the help and I'll send pics as it comes along. BTW camo wrapping isn't easy...advice for those doing it...TAKE YOUR TIME, MEASURE TWICE and CUT ONCE.

DC to DC reducers are amp and watt rated..... get the BIGGEST one you can find. They are typically not hearty when rated under 20 amps. Also get one with a switched on/off circuit or get a charger relay and make your own but don't eave it on all the time... hope this helps

ScottyB, you da man. Probably going to get the 30 amp reducer. It does have the "famous" yellow wire that goes to the key switch. Thanks again.

I bought a cheap 10A one. Right now I have it wired 48 volts, + and -. How do I wire it with a switch? should I just put a seperate switch in the + line to turn it off? or, should I wire it into the tow switch?

Thanks

If you wire it to the tow switch, you will blow the 3a fuse.

Kev, Use a 48v relay and use the red/white wire in the factory harness for the trigger wire to have the key switch toggle it on and off.
