I'm Back with a Yamaha g?
Picked this Yamaha up for a $1000 with 2013? batteries. Can any one pin point which model this is? First pic is the VIN. I bought it to resell but been thinking of hanging on to it and No I will not be doing a Electric to Gas Conversion like my 6.5hp Ezgo. This cart drives fine, When I got it the brake pedal would not retract so I installed a new spring. Looks like a 1990 G8e?

G-8 cart. Need a front picture but I think it has a g14/g16 front cowl.

I hate the front cowl. Doesn't look right to me. This is the only pic at the moment.

It should lay down in front. May need to shorten or remove the support behind the name plate. A lot of these carts got the g14 and up body's due to being very fragile.

Re: I'm Back with a Yamaha g?
That brace thing reeks of shadetree engineering, take it out now!
Check for stress cracks in your cowl, holes blown in the factory framework by schmegged up amateur welding/drilling etc. Repair as much of this as you can then, see if you can tell why somebody found the need to be creative. If this was done because your cowl flops around a lot you could do an old stockcar racers trick and fab flexible spring braces from nylon valance material, available at most racing suppliers, and large head pop rivets. Late model & modified guys have been using this for years to keep fenders & quarter panels from flapping in the breeze and to keep the tech inspectors from DQ'ing bodies that don't fit templates. If you know a racer you could probably get it done for the cost of a 12-pack and sweeping the shop floor. Just make sure that anything attached to stock frame work is primed and painted; or in the case of plastic body pieces that appropriate backing is applied to stiffen and resist cracking. Done tastefully pop rivets can be made to disappear or look good too. Dusty |
