heavy duty FR switch
Does anyone know where I can get a heavy duty FR switch for a Yamaha G16E? I am going to change the controller and solenoid and they suggest a heavy duty FR switch.

Your second alternative is a reversing contactor conversion kit. This kit comes in HD and super duty size. It is a pair of electrical contactors that do the hiogh amperage switching and it is operated by a nice little rocker switch which mounts in a housing that mounts over your old shifter hole. Go here to see more on reversing contactor kits > http://cartsunlimited.net/Reversing_Contactors.html ANd here for HD F&R info > http://cartsunlimited.net/F_R_Switch_Upgrades.html The CC F&R is the least expensive way to solve this problem and the reversing contactor is best high amperage switching solution Can a Moderator move this thread to the electric yamaha section please? |

Re: heavy duty FR switch
You will need a HD solenoid and upgraded cables with the new controller too

Re: heavy duty FR switch
I have been told that the G16 f/r switch was pretty much heavy duty from the factory. I bought an altrax 400amp controller and heavy duty solenoid and also went with 4gauge cables. My cables are heating up bad to the point of melting the plastic off and smoking. I don't think it was the best wire though for the cables. Do you think 2gauge cables would help?

Re: heavy duty FR switch
4g welding cable with proper ends would handle the 400a controller okay. Sounds like you may have a poor set of cables ? Cut off one end and count the strands in one.....good cable has over 400 strands in 4g
