Default G22 fuse blown instantly

Our 48V 2005 G22 cart came back with the fuse blown and nothing working. In addition, there was about 18V from the frame to ground (frame hot.) Fuse replacements all blew instantly. After a few days, the voltage across the frame has increased to about 22V.

Now comes the really weird bit. On a whim, I touched the voltmeter positive to the CASE of the battery--the plastic part--and was reading voltage! Even the rubber holders above it have some power going through them. As I work my way down the batteries with the positive lead of the voltmeter, the voltage increases in proportion with the battery--8, 16, 24, 36, 48. I'm assuming this is not normal?

Nothing is grounded to the frame, and I have cleaned off the batteries with baking soda and water, followed up by a scrub with isoproyl alcohol. Same problem persists.

It also apparently hit a fairly large bump as it was being loaded onto a truck where it was struck on the frame under the motor.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You have leakage from your batteries - probably some acid on them. You can clean them and get rid of that. Use some baking soda to neutralize the acid. Don't get any inside the caps.

Hi!

I cleaned up the batteries, and the voltage across the frame and ground is now gone. Cool!

However, the fuse is still blowing. It's literally the instant the tow/run switch is flipped to run.

Unfortunately
, in my experience, that is a bad controller. But before you buy, unplug everything with a plug one-by-one. Go to your local auto parts store and buy an automatic reseting circuit breaker (5amp). It will plug into the fuseholder, and will prevent you from burning up a million fuses while working on it. Clip a testlamp on the output of the circuitbreaker so you will know if it is tripped.
