Considering a 2009 Yamaha Drive
I am considering purchasing a 2009 Yamaha Drive with the 6 8V batteries. This cart is not very familiar to me and wondering if you all could share what to look out for and what are common problems with these carts? Thanks in advance.

Re: Considering a 2009 Yamaha Drive
Take a mirror, look on the top of the rib on the passenger side axle tube near the center of the cart. Find the identification tag, if it is white, i would avoid it (yellow, blue, and green are fine). The white tag axle had a bad gear on the intermediate shaft that will eventually fail. The yellow tag axle (and all following) had a better gear.

Re: Considering a 2009 Yamaha Drive
I've been told my cart is an 08. But when I pick up the seat there is a tag that says manufactured in 2007. So is that considered 07 or 08.

Re: Considering a 2009 Yamaha Drive
That is considered an '08. Check your serial number to verify. Yamaha's website has a serial number list (also one on here somewhere).

I will say I love my 2012. There are not a ton of upgrade options, so if you see that as a possible downside. The ride is fantastic, the looks great.

Re: Considering a 2009 Yamaha Drive
I did... the "white tag" axle had a bad gear, it failed in any moderate stress applications. Sorry, it caused me to do many axle replacements, most under warranty (minimum pay).. The early "white tag" axle sucked.
