Default Yamaha G29 Golf Cart Charger Fan

I have 08 G29 and noticed the other day when charging it the charger was VERY hot to the touch and the fan was not running. What does it take for the fan to kick on? I am thinking the box fan is bad, does anyone know who sells a replacement? I am pretty handy with electronics and have no problem tearing it down to replace it, just want to make sure I am not wasting my time.

Wasting your time... They are programmed to come on at some crazy high temp. I have never seen one come on. I called yamaha and asked them about this.

Me too. I do beleive the Yamaha style chargers get so hot because the aluminum cases "hold the heat".

I probed around in there to try and find a 12v source for the fan that was only active when it was plugged into the cart. Didn't find any thing. The case is small and not much ventilation. The new JW9 charger fan comes on much easier, but it sounds like a clapped-out fart fan from a bathroom.

Wow, that is just crazy. The owner at the shop near me has a buddy who works for Yamaha and he had him look at the charger and said the wire for the fan were burnt up on the board, he replaced the fan and the fan control board. Brought it home and hmm fan not running... Have not ran to cart down too low but the charger was still hot. Waving the white flag! I just don't want to have to replace a $700 charger because it burns up...

You wouldnt really consider paying $700 for another of those crummy things, when you could get a much better (and USA made) DPI for around $350, right?
