Default Changer resistor pack to motor controller? (Yam G9E)

Hello,

New to golf cart world. So here it goes. Bought a Yamaha G9E and I'm buying 8x 6-volt batteries for it.

To make them fit I wanna remove the old coil looking thing (resistor) and get a new nice motor controller.

Planning on keeping my 36 volt stock motor and running 48 volts through it and a tad bigger tires.

Anyone got a recommendation for the controller. How many amps? I have 2 gauge wire all ready for it.

Thanks.

Curtis makes a great controller (24 to 48 volt) , plus the correct Curtis "pot box" will bring that 36 volt motor to life. But, the f/r switch contacts are "suspect", may want to adapt one of Scottyb's (site sponsor) HD f/r (I hate this) Ezgo f/r switch's.

Thanks! Am I off track on anything? This will be my first rebuild. Tips and tricks are welcomed.

Also where should I mount the new controller? Just how big are they?
