G29 rear axle bearings
How big of a deal is it to change rear axle bearings on a 2013 YDRE? I have a leak on the driver's side. Not a bad one but a leak I think I need to fix. Should still be under warranty. I'll have to check with the dealer.
Thanks Dave |

Re: G29 rear axle bearings
The bearing is easy to change, but thats not where the leak is coming from (thats just where the internal leaked oil has its oppertunity to escape). The real source of the leak is the seal inside, at the inner end of the axle shaft. the transaxle has to be removed and split open to fix it.

Re: G29 rear axle bearings
Yes would be under warranty. Not that tough of job untill the bearing explodes, then the bearing race must be cut out of the housing....and that's a PAIN!

A simple slide hammer removes the race.

Re: G29 rear axle bearings
Got my cart back today. Kudos to Yamaha and the local dealer. Went in and explained the leak and a slight metal to metal rubbing noise. Techs looked it over, contacted Yamaha, and it was decided to replace the complete transaxle under warranty at no charge to me--not even the new gear oil. Cart is great after the change. You can't get better warranty service than that.

That is awesome. Makes me want to go buy a new one. Don't think the wife would be happy though

Re: G29 rear axle bearings
That AC yamaha thing has been getting slight mention around here for a while. It will be the utility model first, then the personal model. It appears to have the same motor as rxv, but it has real brakes.

Re: G29 rear axle bearings
I know you mentioned the AC drive being put in utility carts in previous posts but this is the first time I have seen any mention of it from a dealer. I wonder how long before the Drive and Drive PTV will be available with AC drive.
