Default What to do with a G2.

I recently was given an '87 G2. Needs batteries, and other minor repairs. Since I have to buy batteries anyway, should I convert it to 48 volt? Ok, besides the charger, are there any other things I would have to change? I plan on putting 20" or so tires and mild lift kit on it. I spent the weekend putting some camo paint on it. OR, should I just find a newer more modern cart to hop up? I can see putting $1,000- 1,500 n it over the next year or so, there is some hilly terrain where I drive, so I may prefer to install a High Torque mortor instead of High Speed. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
