Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
wish I was close enough, I use to ride the trails on dirt bikes when I would go down for bike week, friend of mine has a place in Altoona on the southern tip of the trails we would just ride the road and be there it was a lot of fun

Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
I have rode some of those trails though the Ocala forest and yes there is deep sugar sand :) and water holes . Theres one water hole on mail box road that named after me on a drunkin' night with no sober adult supervision lol . To bad the frontier bar is closed it would be a great pit stop .

Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
I'm looking for some info on riding carts in Ocala National Forest. I was planing a trip to Salt Springs this January. As I look over the website In the section "know before you go" it says Personal golf cars are not allowed in the Ocala National Forest; if you bring one, it must remain on its trailer"
They have OHV trails, supposed to have one right from this campground even. Does Florida think a golf cart isn't an OHV? Obviously someone here has been in ONF with a cart, what or who do you have to pay off to make it happen? Anyone know EXACTLY where this trail head is that comes down to the Salt Springs Rec area? I have looked at google maps and can't place it, to many trees I guess. TIA |

Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
I been to the Salt Spring Rec area , stayed 10 day. there is no direct trail from the camp ground into the forest that i found. They dont let you ride GC in there either unless they are street legal (or a least when I was there) theres a clay road on the north end of the camp ground but accessed from outside road (SR19). I rode mostly on the other side of SR19 , mile or two up on the left where the Frontier bar was. theres access road that leads into the forest , plenty of trails around but if you follow the power lines it will take to a large lake .

Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
Will I need a permit to go on the other side of 19 to the lake and such? And how did you get the cart from your campsite to 19? We talked to some chick on the phone and she was pretty adamant about no carts in the camp ground.

Re: Ocala national forest trail ride
Salt Springs Rec is on the north bound side of 19. My cart is street legal now a LSV so I pretty much drove right out on it . theres four wheeler tracks between the road and the tree line so I drove down them . Went to the local Dollar General and I want to say there was another camp ground there Elite Resorts
