Default Best in Desert Racing

We have a weekend with no men. They are competing in the "Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno the long way" 1000 mi. race. My son in law owns the Razr S that will be running in the race. Tom is driving the chase truck and will be driving/riding part of the time and is chief mechanic. This may be the last year for this race due to environmental whining from the tree huggers. We will be cheering them on from home as we can track them live on IRC. They have put in tons of hours getting the car ready for this race and are basically taking a whole second car, minus the frame, along in case of any breakdowns. They'll be covering over 300 mi/day.

Here's a link to the BITD website about the race.

We girls are going to a horse show minus our usual cheering section.

And the race is on!!!

This is the link to the race tracking.

http://irctracking.com/2009/Vegas-Reno/Day1/

He is in the 1900 class. #1912 Mike Cook

If you click his name and then click on the eyeball next to the check mark it tells you how far he's gone and how fast he's going. They are just past the first 10 mi. marker. The first 10 miles had a very high danger warning so glad they got through that okay.

It's very cool to be able to track them live this way. Tom said you could feel the adrenaline in the air this morning because everyone is so hyped up.
The guy they especially want to beat is #1902. It's Rhino vs. Razr.

#1902 blew a head gasket first thing this morning and has been stuck at the first pit stop.

Mike broke a belt but they got it fixed and they are back running. Cost them almost 45 min. Only the first day so I'm sure there will be many more brake/fixes to come.

The guy in the lead is flying !!!!!

Looks like he won't have a problem beating #1902 unless he breaks something major as well. Looks like he's currently at pit 4 and 1902 is still back at pit 2.

Rockin!

That's cool!
They used to run Barstow to Vegas, until a turtle shut it down. That was good times.
Dang tree huggers....Hope they finish well!

Haven't heard from them in a while and I don't think they've moved in a while either. They were having a clutch problem last I heard. It was chewing up belts. I think they have until 10 PM to finish... looks like they might need it.

Gosh, I'm so sorry I didn't go....NOT
