You have a few, although not real good, choices. The Bad Lands, Haspin Acres, Prairie Creek Reservor, and I herd there was some sled trails up in northern Indiana you could ride on, but i'm not sure about that. There may be more, those are just the one I know of. I have only been to Haspin.
Ya never know, maybe theres a few folks on here we could put together a ride with.

I really don't know of any places close to go ride. I live in Westfield and I would be interested if somebody put a ride together. Let me know!

Either of you going to the Kart Konvention in Ohio on 9/23-9/25? I have heard its a good time. Were planning to make the trip.

Good to hear agc. Hopefully we will all catch-up on who's who at the Kart Konvention. Our first time, but sure wounds like fun. We are planning to head over on Friday afternoon/evening. We will stay at the track in the RV.....what about you?

Folks used to be able to ride thier carts into the Ducktail Run, here in Gas City/Jonesboro area, but the promoters eliminated carts in the park now during the rally. Said a couple people were injured, and a couple of custom or classic cars were damaged. I am considering hosting a rally of some kind, in the same park. The park is huge. Last year the Ducktail Run had over 1000 custom and classic cars registered, and still had plenty of room for the swap meet and vendors as well. Carts are allowed on the city streets, provided they are registered. I know the Assistant Chief of Police in Gas City and the Chief in Jonesboro, and could talk to them about special registration of out of town carts during the proposed rally time period. Gas City/Jonesboro is fairly centrally located in Indiana (its a little closer to east than central). Also, the infrastructure is already in place since the local governemnt is already used to holding these types of rallies.

I propose that those of us from Indiana who are interested in starting our own future rally do the following;

1) Whether you have or have not done so in the past, come to the Ducktail Run this year. It is always the 3rd weekend in September. Go to the website www.ducktailrun.com for more info on the rally.

2) Anyone from this forum who would like to come and see this rally this year, is welcome to stay at my shop. I will have space for a few tents, and/or a few travel trailers, and will include electrical hookups for the 1st few that contact me. A few can even stay in the shop if they want. I will not charge any one anything for this service. I figure if this cart rally ever happens, it will benefit me more than anyone else, so I will host those who are willing to make the trip. If you cart is street legal, by Jonesboro rules, I will even pay for your registration. To be street legal in Jonesboro you must have headlights, tail lights, brakelights, a horn, a slow moving vehicle sign (I can provide one on a temp basis if necessary) and proof of insurance. By Jonesboro statutes, UTV's are not golf carts, and cannot be registered. Admission to the Ducktail Run, or to James Dean Days (further explanation follows) is on you. And while I might have a BBQ or two for my new friends, you will be responsible to feed yourselves as well.

James Dean was born and raised in Fairmount Indiana, and every year Fairmount hosts a rally in his honor. It is always on the 3rd weekend in September, which is when he died. Fairmount is only 5 miles south of Jonesboro/Gas City. The James Dean Days thing got pretty big, and some savvy promoters decided to cash in on it and started the Ducktail Run about 20 years ago, and it has been eclipsing the James Dean festival in size for about 10 years now.

No matter what else happens, it is a good excuse for a bunch of us online aquaintences to get together and become friends. I promise it will be a good time, and it will be a fairly cheap good time.

What do you think, willing to give it a shot?

Robin

Just saw that the event you guys were planning on going to in Ohio last year was cancelled very short term. That had to suck. I don't know if they are having it again this year or not, (or ever for that matter). If they are not having it again, this may be our chance to start something of our own in this part of the midwest.

Just sayin,

Robin

I'm only about 30-45 min away from Fairmont, and have never been to James dean days. I heard it is a great time. We were gonna go last year but forgot all about it. If you get a rally going up there I'll certainly attend.
Is there any place to trail ride up there? I have been to the race track in gas city several times. Do you have a cart shop up there?
If you need any help setting something up, I'll do what I can.....

Robin,

Sounds like fun! I have never been to the event, but with your offer it sounds like this could be the year. Is it the 15th or the 22nd? Right now this is going to be added to the calendar! I will be bringing the RV so we will take one of those spots Cart's going to need brake lights, but I will have plenty of time to get that done.

It was a real bummer last year when the Kart Konvention was canceled. Heard lots of good things about it. Sure would be cool to get something like this started in our neck of the woods

I would be happy to help with any planning so let me know.

By the way when will you be back here in Indiana? Were going to have to meet up sometime!
