Delaware Veterans Home
For the past two years I have been the event coordinator for the Delaware Veterans Home Car and Bike Show. This event is held annually to support the residents of the home. All proceeds, from the event, go directly to the residents. The money is placed in a seperate account and is for their use for personal items like clothing, CD's, printers etc.
I would love to see some of the great carts, from around the Delaware area, attend this event. If we have enough interest we can include them in the judging. But my real desire is to have some of you folks come out and give a vet a ride around the parking lot while he/she looks the cars and bikes over. If you have any interest please shoot me a PM. This years Bike and Car show is scheduled for Oct. 20. Registration begins at 9am with prizes awarded at 2pm. We wll have breakfast and lunch available as well as beverages. What do ya say folks? Come on out, show off your cart and take a vet for a ride. Denny |

Re: Delaware Veterans Home
The event is held in Milford, Delaware. This will be our third year and hope to have the same increase in participation we had last year. The first year brought us 85 registrants and we donated about 1400 dollars to the residents. Last year we had 142 registrants and donated over 2500 dollars.
Most of the residents are WWII and Korean War age but recently they started getting apps from Vietnam era people. The home itself, Delaware is the last state to build one, is about 5 years old. This year we are trying to get one of the local radio stations to come out and do their broadcast from the site. The local Harley dealer brings a trailer full of the newest bikes and we are already getting queries from other vendors that want to get in on the event. Love to have some more bikes come in crash. The residents get a real kick out of them. When a group comes in, we have them parade past the main building before parking. It always draws a few more residents out to see who just arrived. Crash, I don't know which would be shorter for you, but I would take the bay/bridge tunnel straight up 13. Or even 301 to 50. Anything to avoid 95. |

Re: Delaware Veterans Home
Please keep the information update on this event. I am a retired vet from Delaware and now living in VA, would be honored to take my H-D gasser up there for the event and give the vets rides.

Re: Delaware Veterans Home
dgithens1: We'd enjoy your company. My wife just updated the flyer so as soon as I can get it properly sized, I'll post one here. We're working on getting family permission, for giving the residents rides, right now. Along with all the vehicles, we usually have about 40 residents attend the event. Many times residents won't come out because we cover the entire parking lot. For some, that's just too much walking. Our hope is we can get more of them involved, along with giving them an opportunity to see all the vehicles, by doing the ride program. I'll keep posting as the time gets closer.
Thanks Denny |

Re: Delaware Veterans Home
Just bumping this as a reminder. Slightly less than two months away now. I'm starting to get some posters out in ther area cart shops. If anyone knows of or has links for shops within 100 miles or so, please let me know.
Thanks Denny |
