Beach Ride Port A, TX
Hey there fellow Texans and neighboring states I have been taking with ProjectClubCar and we have decided to put together a little get Cart Ralley. It will be not quite the level of CAW but it should be fun, well here is what we are planning for April 11-13th:
1. ProjectCC is going to bring his BBQ pit so we can cook. 2. BYOB and BYOM(meat) 3. We are planning on it being a pot luck event, so everyone should just bring a little bit, and bring tupperware for leftovers if there is any 4. Ride the beach and possibly Port A, more to follow regarding this. 5. Hang out and have a good time. I did not ask ProjectCC if his pit is wood or charcoal, we may need to help out with that. Port A allows golf carts to ride the streets but you half to have a license plate with liability insurance, and I believe you need to purchase a beach parking pass for your cart. Hope guys from the area will chime in more on this. Here is some information regarding the license plate, http://www.cityofportaransas.org/pdf...egulations.pdf If you any of you that would like to help make this be a little better maybe there are spots where we can go that you know of and local hotels that people can stay, of coarse there is a few RV parking spots down there as well for people to stay at. Post up your ideas and it should be a good time. Project mentioned going down and doing a little recon on the area and post up what he finds. LH |

Re: Beach Ride Port A, TX
We usually head down at least once per year. My issue is that I am told they are very strict about the carts being street legal even to ride on the beach. I use mine for hunting and off roading and do not want to add or spend the money on all those accessories.

Re: Beach Ride Port A, TX
It's hard to say since I know a lot of the Texas beaches are cracking down on UTV and ATV's. We used to go to Crystal Beach a lot as a kid growing up in Beaumont, I have also heard that Surfside is cool, but I have never been there. I think Port A has the best atmosphere and things to do if we can figure out where we can ride without being street legal. Would be interesting to see what you find out when you go. Pioneer RV park seems to be a very popular place with a lot of space if you were looking at camping spots. We stayed next door at Gulf Waters last time we took our trailer.

Re: Beach Ride Port A, TX
Hookem, I will call down there tomorrow and find out about the details on the beach. I was down there in 09 and I did not need a license plat then, but things have changed.
