Led lightbar and DC DC power converter

I am completely dumb to electrical work. I bought a 2012 ezgo and just purchased a lightbar to install on it. When I purchased the cart, I had the seller install a DC DC power converter on it. The cart has mp3 player with speakers, headlights and tail lights, and a cigarette lighter on it. How do I connect this lightbar and go through the converter? I connected it to the first and last batteries in the circuit temporarily and the switch got crazy hot. I have since disconnected it. Please advise. I am lost.

You are lucky you still have a working lightbar. I would steal power from the wires to the music player or lighter socket.

I know. As soon as I realized what I did I disconnected it all. Whew. It still works and I figured out what I did.
