Re: Handy Cap ride
Man if I was in a chair...I'd sure want one! In fact, I want one now!!! Anyone know the price of that beast? It's got to be in the 15k range.

A person with good upper body strength could manage with the basic mechanical levers. A high level quadriplegic like me would need a joystick or some type of adaptive equipment which could easily add 10K to the base price. I have talked to the guys at Howe & Howe twice and found the ripchair to be out of my price range. |

I called them about it then and had some concerns about the rough ride. I can't bounce around in my wheelchair seat too much without worrying about skin break down. They listened and have improved the suspension and are now building version 3 of the ripchair. I read a post somewhere within the last year the cost had come down to 20K so I called again and got the price I mentioned in my post above. They're in Maine and I'm in Oregon so it would be a long trip to their factory to have the custom fitting each person needs. They used removable ramps to load in the early version. I sent them this link of my buggy and how I load. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6MqGeU6uZQ They must have liked the idea and are using it now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Mk7CH6E7pA I think the Ripchair is awesome. Just a bit too expensive for most. I'm working on electric buggy with golf cart performance that I hope will be affordable to more people. |

Re: Handy Cap ride
I'll stick with my ezgo I severed a nerve in my leg 5 years ago at work, the problem is the insurance company's don't care about you! They won't you to sit at home and have no life but I refuse to do that . So my dad bought me a cart to get around and get me out of the house! It got me out but I'm always doing something to it my dad just laughs at me ! He told me if I keep on I'm gonna have to wear a helmet to ride it

Re: Handy Cap ride
Yep, building a hand-control cart. I am honored to do it. The "lawyer stuff" sucks. He wants something with some performance. Still spooked "lawyer wise"
