Default 99 CC DS motor controller fail what do I need

My 99 CC DS has the following upgrades
Lift with 22" tires
New/8 month old 8v batteries NAPA (im a napa auto care shop)
HD FnR switch
Hand made by me 1/0 cables all ends soldered
DD motors 170-011-0002 11.2hp motor
DD motors 650a solenoid

Previous controller was a curtis 1204-410 that had the extra mosfets soldered in for higher current.
Ran the car a bit hard yesterday 1 mile wide open on flat road then a bit of hilly forest driving with moderate pedal never wide open. Came out of the woods and I heard the end plate pop off speed control then sounded like popcorn as controller self destroyed . I quickly removed the negative feed from battery bank.

I am confused and interested in what speed controls work best. I see the FSIP 700a GE controllers for 500 or is the alltrax the way to go?

I dont tow may have 4 adults and a cooler on it at the most.

Thanks in advance.

Ive seen on here reference to the xct alltrax. Why not contact david at revolution golf carts and a sponsor for his input.
many use the fsip as well.

I prefer the Alltrax controllers over GE/FSIP and Curtis. I like the user programmability without a specialty programer like Curtis requires.

I have three Axe 7245's (72 volt 450 amp), two of them in one cart. They have been good solid controllers.

I also use a Alltrax SPM 72650 (72 volt 650 amp) controller in one of my carts. I really like the SPM line of controllers. You can program it with a standard USD cable and the free software from Alltrax. Some have a built in cooling fan and some have an optional cooling fan. The SPM controllers are rated a little different than the AXE line, the SPM is rated more conservatively, so they preform better than the older AXE models. For 48 volts the SPM line goes up to 800 amps (920 amps in peak mode).

Scotty B with carts unlimited.net is great to deal with, ships crazy fast and has great prices. I have purchased from him a lot. He does an excellent job of customer support by this forum, email and phone.

David Hicks with Revolutiongolfcarts.com is highly regarded here (I am not associated, I just have a similar screen name here), I have not had the opportunity to purchase from him yet but I will be doing so soon.

Either one of the guys above can get you set up with a new controller. I am guessing your modified Curtis was putting out 400-500 amps? If you liked the performance you should stick with a controller above what the Curtis was putting out.

Thank you for the advise.
I had time to pull the old controller and inspect tonight.
As you can see the board is toast.
At least one capacitor is burn off the board.
3 or more MOSFETS are melted off board and more are puffed.

I will work with one of the supporting suppliers here.

700a controller is in. Cart is back to normal.

Not sure If I should start a new thread but here goes.

I have a Delta Q onboard charger that I have been using for the cart.
It is mounted under the back seat for now.
I would like to remove the OBC and related wiring to clean up the cart and mount the DeltaQ in its place.
Can anyone lead me to some internal schematics for the OBC so I can determine what to get rid of.
My main issue right now is that the yellow wire for the solenoid is driven through the OBC. I need to know if that can be set to a constant B+ or B-
Or am I stuck and need to leave it in.
I have searched and didnt find anything other than how to bypass temporarily

Yes you can attach the yellow wire to a constant source of B-. Choose either the control B- or the battery main negative. (this is part of the OBC bypass. but can be done with or without the OBC on line)
Also - for those using this as a research point don't forget about the new Alltrax SRX controls for series motor carts.

Just went outside and put the yellow wire to B- works perfect.
Thanks to Scotty B with cartsunlimited.net

I purchased my controller from him and he has me as a lifetime customer.
