Low speed high torque
Low speed, high torque
I would like to build a single purpose cart to be used as a incline lake tram at my lake cabin. I will be building a path/ramp system over a distance of 200 ft with a maximum grade of 40% ( 12in run to 5in rise). Path will be straight with no horizontal curving but vertically slope will vary from 0% to max of 40%. Construction will be 2x2 square tubing with expanded metal runners for traction and 12" side wall for strength and guidance Think about is as a 200 ft truck loading ramp with sides. The carts only purpose will be to move people and thinks from one end to other safely. Max load 800 lbs. Speed to be 100 ft per minute, a little over one mile per hour. So the question is how do I do this using a standard golf cart configuration and DC motor? Not looking for the cheapest way but the best way. Honestly I am having a hard time wrapping my head around get enough torque to pull a 40% grade at such a low rpm. It goes with out saying, I have very limited knowledge of electric golf carts. |

Re: Low speed high torque
I think you ought to hook any cart or other transport to an electric winch to pull up/down ramp.

Re: Low speed high torque
Yes I'm reminded of a chain driven trolley - possibly driven by a commercial gate motor with lots of built in reduction and safety stop mechanisms.
