Default What's in the Pot?

I have a Curtis Knockoff PB-6 it reads 7K-0 I want to change it to send 0-5K
Can I do this?
What should I expect to see when I open it up?
How do I change it?
Am I reading this meter right set at 200K?
Your expert help is appreciated !

There will be 3 terminals inside on the pot....leave the center wire alone and move the end wire to the opposite side. Unless you limit the travel it will read 0-7k ohms no matter what. Give that a shot and take a reading.

In the pot I found the potentiometer
A product of Cosmos , Tokyo
Model# RV24YN 20S
B303
05DC
THE 3 TERMINALS ARE MARKED 1 2 3
The wires are connected to 3 and 2 ?

I bought this as a 5k-0 and it arrived 0-5k. When I exchanged it ....I think they switched the wire. Hence the 05DC designation on the unit...

Take 3 and put it on 1. Then take another reading. I personally haven't done this so.......
