Golf cart to tow Santa's sleigh?
Hi everyone. I've been trying to figure out how to make better use of my sleigh, and the Cayman Islands is just way too hot all year round for the health of reindeer! (I'm not kidding. I've actually looked into it. Plus, they're very expensive animals to maintain, even under the best of circumstances.)
This will be my 3rd Christmas season with my sleigh, which was custom built in Poland and shipped over to Cayman in a 20 foot container. I've since added a 25' x 20' sleigh room onto the back of my house, and there it sits. My 6 year old daughter uses it as her jungle gym. I do well over 100 events each year as Santa (home visits, corporate, schools, charitable organizations, etc.) but have only used the sleigh about 10 times per season. It weighs about 1,400 pounds, and is easy to move it around on an 18' flat bed trailer with a tilt deck and a winch up front for effortless loading and unloading. I'd like to be able to use it to give 15 minute sleigh rides for 2 hours per night, max, at a set location (a high end outdoor shopping plaza that is effectively its own little self-contained neighborhood). Very flat ground, low speed, 10mph at max. The sleigh fully loaded with my jolly self and a full load of passengers is likely to weigh in at about 2,500 pounds. Someone had suggested in my introduction thread that it might be relatively easy to convert the sleigh into a cart. But I think I'd prefer to pull it with a "North Pole Airport Authority" tow truck of some kind. I tell the kids that the sleigh (with a full toy bag) weighs a lot, so the elves normally tow it onto the runway. That way, the reindeer don't get too tired before they need to start kicking to get the sleigh up in the air! In any case, I'm just wondering if any golf cart (with whatever mods might be needed) could possibly be up for the task? Maybe starting with something like a new Ezgo TXT48? I'm willing to make the investment, whatever it might be, assuming it's within reason, and would prefer electric to gas unless there really isn't anything that would be up to task. Sorry for being so long winded. I guess the short version is 2,500 pounds or so, 2 hours or so, on flat ground at low speeds, about 5-10 mph, although 15 mph would be nice. Thanks for reading, and for your help! |

Re: Golf cart to tow Santa's sleigh?
I'm in Augusta, GA, Home of the golf cart. I can get you any cart you want. I'm also a regular cruiser to the Caribbean, however I think Carnival may reject me if I try to bring a golf cart on board with me to drop it off with you, but if you'll contact me I may be able to help if we can arrange "alternate" shipping.
