Buyers Guide for electric carts
I joined the forum looking for something like this. I put this together, maybe it will be helpful to somebody else. All the information is gleaned from cartsunlimited.net. Corrections, updates and additions would be nice.
========== Electric Cart Buyers Guide Series Drive System Most basic and most reliable Best for off-road, large tires and towing All carts built before 1995 are series drive Mechanical lever (not a switch) for forward/reverse Cart is slow and high torque Upgrades: Higher speeds available by upgrading controller/solenoid and batteries to 48V. (Stock motor is okay) Install larger/heavy duty: Speed control Solenoid Fwd/rev switch Battery cables * * * Sepex drive system Not as well suited for slow, high torque use as the series drive Electrical switch for forward/reverse Employs a run/tow switch to cut power to the controller Motor has two large power wires, plus a pigtail/multiconnector with small control wires Upgrades: Bigger speed control = more torque and more speed (stock solenoid and cables are okay) Above 400 amps go to bigger speed control & solenoid plus bigger battery cables Motor mapping should be tailored to the cart usage – low torque/hi speed versus hi torque/low speed Extended slow operation with big tires or hills can overheat the motor. * * Model ID * EZ-Go Marathon 1980-1994 Separate seat backs Metal body Flat (horizontal) rear fenders Flat sloping front body * EZ-Go Medalist 1994-1995 Single seat back Metal body Roof grab handles * EZ-Go TXT 1995-2013 Plastic body (fiberglass?) Rounded front body Rounded rear fenders * Club Car DS 1982-2000 Separate seat backs Armrests are rubber coated round tubes Silver roof supports Thin plastic roof with no grab handles ID plate under passenger glove box * Club Car DS 2000-Current One piece back cushion Molded plastic triangular arm rests Black roof supports Molded roof with grab handles ID sticker under passenger glove box * Club Car Precedent 2004-Current Wrap around bumper Molded plastic rear roof supports with drainage ID sticker inside passenger glove box, or passenger kick panel * Club Car Model (first two letters of ID sticker) A = DS Electric AA = DS Electric (48V) AB = DS Electric (36V) AC = DS Electric (48V) AQ = DS Electric IQ (48V) AG = DS Gas DS = DS Power Drive (48V) HA = DS Electric (36V) PD = Precedent 12L Excel PE = Precedent Electric 4 Passenger PF - Precedent Gas PG - Precedent Gas PH = Precedent 12 Excel PJ = Precedent 12 4 pass Excel PR = Precedent Professional Gas PQ = Precedent Electric IQ (48V) PS = Precedent L2 Electric PT = Precedent L2 Gas PU = Precedent Signature Gas PZ = Precedent Signature Electric |
