Default XCT500 randomly accelerates hard then slows or stalls

So my wife's cart has pick up a glitch and scares the heck out of her. Four times in the past 30-40 miles it has struggled to maintain speed the accelerated hard for half a second slowing or stalling. Luckily no one's been tailgating her when it happened.

Here's some details. Each time she was driving at constant speed between 10-20 mph on flat ground. The cart would momentarily start to struggle and slow then it accelerates hard for a second causing the cart lunge forward, it then immediately slows to max of 2 mph for a hundred feet before it started working normally. Once she thinks she let it come to a stop she heard the solenoid and then the cart worked normally again for another 5-10 miles.

Battery voltage was between 58v-55v each time.

Tires are still 18".

I installed the system back in January but only have a few weeks of running it.

My build thread: 05 CC Precedent 14 cell Leaf Lithium conversion.

Any thoughts are welcomed!

Sure sounds like a potentiometer issue (MCOR) or possibly a speed sensor, but for the solenoid to drop out it had to have lost a permissive. One quick thing you can do to rule out the MCOR microswitch is unplug the two pin connector from the MCOR and jump out the connector with a paper clip or a small piece of wire. It will be a blue wire and green wire connector.

If it happens again chances are you will not be there with a meter in hand to test, but if any way possible, if she could have the laptop hooked up and viewing the monitor screen, she could see if the solenoid opens or what the throttle input is doing. Along with all the other things including error flags.

Unless you intentionally disabled the HPD setting in your controller, the MCOR micro-switch is not the problem.

If that switch opens while the cart is running, it will require a pedal cycle to prevent an HPD if the switch were to close while the cart is running. It would also trigger a high-speed walkaway error.

Check the safety stuff first, make sure all cells are within the proper range and no cable or wire connections are loose in the entire cart.

Erroneous speed sensor pulses will cause the cart to run at half power, so that 2 mph condition eliminates the speed sensor as well.

You can pump (full travel up to down) the MCOR 30 times or so to see if it is anything oxidized in the MCOR track, otherwise You will need to run a monitor log on the cart to see what is happening during the error event.

Connect a laptop and collect a monitor file while driving the cart as she does. Then post the file here for analysis.

Thanks for the suggestions. I also called David Hicks @ Revolution and he thinks speed sensor or MCOR and also recommend that I do some driving with the computer for a bit to try and isolate the part. Really wishing that I bought my wife a new computer for her birthday instead of the new cart tires and wheels. ;)

You can borrow a laptop easier than you can borrow tires and wheels

You will most likely find it between those 2 areas, but the monitor screen is such a big help in troubleshooting.
