Default Regeneration motors

What motors make power if spun ?
can others be changed to make power continuously or only the regens
is there a problem with long term hours regen use

why want to use a cart motor to power a small sail boat
and when sailing use the prop to make power to charge the batterys
plus solar panels for maintenance charge at anchor no shore power hook up

what is the best motor type and year[s] to look for
or the best to rewire or mod to use that way

A "permanent magnet series" motor will generate power readily if spun, without the need for field excitation. If you tried using the standard Sepex motor found in golf carts as a generator, it'll run hot, and so will the controller. Resulting in controller failure (search for threads of "my batteries went dead, so I towed it home & charged it, now it wont run")

old slot car racer we used silver wire for a little edge and very trick magnets
but never seen a cart with magnets so coils will be made to work

plan is not max charge rate just to get a bit back while sailing
likely full 100% make switch for full or no power so no controler needed
only two or three hp on a heavy but small sailboat that sails most of the time
and just needs short very limited use of power
and know some tricks rewiring or something else needed

can use less power to field coil to control temps maybe charge one battery at a time
not expecting big power just some back plus solar maintenance charge when not moving

would a gas carts starter/gen unit or three be a better idea ?

how much power do they make in starter mode ?

I think they are rated at 1 HP.
