Re: d&d motor
I would go 400A minimum, if budget allows get a 700A controller.
FYI: the picture shows a shunt wound motor not a series wound motor. Motor identification: Shunt wound, SepEx or regen motor are the same type of brushed motor. Just noting since I don't know what type of motor an 05 EzGo TXT comes with. |

Re: d&d motor
I see im now considering either the beast- http://www.cartszone.com/catalog/cart09/D394.htm
or this one- http://www.cartszone.com/catalog/cart09/D297.htm i prefer the beast but it requires a controller all I really want is to be able to cary about 5 people on my cart at around 15 mph and not slow as s**t up hills like it is now and I plan on getting 48 volts to but id rather just get the motor first(easier to put in) |

Re: d&d motor
The Beast is a torque motor, which means it should run on a stock controller better than the high speed motor. It is not a speed motor but should run ~15 MPH with lots of torque meaning it should not slow nearly as much as a speed motor on a hill. The Beast will handle big tires better as well (27" range) but now we are getting back to needing a bigger controller.

Re: d&d motor
The beast will work with the stock motor just fine. You will gain lots of torque.

Re: d&d motor
Technically you shouldn't loose any run time and possibly gain some. First the Beast is a better quality motor than most stock motors but not all stock motors. Second torque motors use fewer amps for cruising, you gain torque but loose speed so your overall amps go down. When you go to 48V your torque and speed will increase and if you drive at the original 36V speed your amps will go down even further.
