| I have a 1999 EZGO series car that is used almost exclusively as a campground cart. It is stock except for lights and a rear seat. As my grandkids are growing, torque is becoming an issue. Last fall I rebuilt the battery tray as I had a serious corrosion problem. When I had the batteries out I did a complete 4 ga wiring upgrade. This fall I plan to add a Jakes 6" spindle lift and 23x11x10 tire upgrade, which I understand will also require more torque. I think this is the controller I need: https://www.cartszone.com/catalog/cart09/485.htm Do I need to do anything else? Actually I thought I was in the EZGO Electric forum. | Is a 1999 EZ-GO a 36-volt system? If so the controller you chose and a 48V pack will give you both torque and speed. |

| IF you have a torque problem now, wait until you lift your car and add 23 inch tires! I agree with Nate, you may need to consider going to 48 volts. |

| G-Daddy, I hate to break the news, but that controller is for a series cart. you happen to have a shunt wound (regen) motor. DC controllers are the cheapest when upgrading. Unfortunately, your regen cart is not. If you are looking for more torque, I would recommend going with D&D's 502:1 motor. This will give you about 30-40% more torque with your stock controller. However, if you add the Altrax DCX400 or DCX500 controller, your torque increase will go through the roof!!! A friend of mine sells D&D motors and the Altrax controllers. The motor is $520 and the DCX400 is $425. He can also make a package deal for the motor and controller - $875 + shipping. I know this is a lot of money, but it's well worth it! I have the 502:1 motor and DCX500 controller on my cart. WOW!! This thing hauls. 22.4 MPH and it will climb a straight wall... Let me know if you are interested and I can get the deal done! Mike |

| Actually, I'm pretty sure the cart is a series cart. No run/tow switch like my '03 PDS. I just need a little boost in torque for hauling 4 grandkids that are growing like weeds. |
