Now we are back to what do you want to accomplish? With gear changes you don't need as many RPMs but you will still need horse power to push your cart to a specific speed.

I am learning a ton just chatting with you guys. At first i wanted a 20MPH cart with power for hills 8%+ grade type on pavment. Now I see thats easy. Then I see 168V cars roasting tires, power-sliding, and doing 50-60 MPH. To change everything costs some considerable $$. I want to be sure the $$ is well spent. I own a machine shop and have NO limits. Any Ideas?? |

I have friends that have traded there carts for "Rhinos"
Thet all brag about how fast they are. Certianly a Rhino is much faster than a 13MPH cart. It would besomthing to show up with a cart, and smoke them. |

If I was going to race a Rhino:
Club Car - 1986 to 2004 Gear - 12.44:1 diff Motor - D-380 Tires - 27" Rims - 12" Battery Pack - 120 volts Controller - 1200A Now we can elaborate on the pros and cons of such a setup and some details of where I would get some of the components and why. This is the basic setup I used on my competition cart for the Bonanza in 06. |

Club Car because of the differential.
12.44:1 gear because it was already in the cart and enabled me to turn 27" tires quicker. The 27" tires gave me height for the mud run and raised the top end to 50 MPH at just under 8000 motor RPM. The 12" rims tucked in the front better and worked better with the PQ lift kit. I used a D-380 from PlumQuick because they test their motors to 8000 RPM before they ship them so I knew I had 50 MPH if I had the power to get there. The battery pack was 50 lb Group 24 batteries, somewhat of a compromise between weight and power which I found to be excessive. These batteries also had a starter rating so I knew they would handle the extreme amp surge upon start off. I can hit 1000 amps at start with a 120 volt pack. The controller was from DC Speed and it uses high amp high voltage components so I did not have to deal with current limits when launching. My batteries were my current limit as the D-380 took everything that was thrown at it. Yes I just happen to be the one who built the controller for DC Speed so I had a fairly good idea how it was going to act and that also made it available to me. |
