well, that is about 1/2 the costs of gd 6v. I was thinking of a battery disconnect like used in heavy equipment but, a quick search didn't find one rated for more than 50v. I'm sure they are out there somewhere.
What are you doing this on - series cart? controler? How fast is it? Is it getting hot anywhere? That's sure alot of juice!

Serch for a "Perco" switch. They are good for I think 350 amps continious.
You can also use the solinoid to series the packs.
That way you could use 2 chargers and NO switch.

I have looked at these HD switches also.
They are expensive. Its better to put $$ twards the 72V Charger.
$350 for a good charger.

My cart is a V-Glide controler not electronic. The coils can burn up easy so I dont use part throttle much. WOT does not run through the coils.

It runs about 30 on flat.

The stock motor does not seam to get hot to touch but I only run it about 3 miles in a spirt.

You should do it.. I tell you, there is so much more power.

I weigh 160#, and I took my 250# neighbor for a ride.
I smashed the throttle to the floor.

Instantly we were doing a 3' wheely, and I had to let off.
It never did that on 36V

From torque!?
I am worried about the resistors burning up. I can't run wot all the time. Can heavier coils be substituted?

Yes the torque creates axil wrap and damaged springs.

Coils are no good. They put a heavy load on the batteries all any throttle position.

They waist your battery power under partial throttle. The resistance coils work the same as an electric heater. They absorb power and creat heat.

If you add coils you suck more power.

You should plan on buying a controler eventualy

Nate enlightened me earlier. This cart is only going 48v. The next one will be a controller. I'm thinking the costs of conversion will be too much for this cart.

BLWNBUX IS THE 86'CC STILL RUNNING ON 72 VOLT STOCK MOTOR. I have a 86 cc too. I would like to do this too, but my motor has been built by Plum Quick. Would like to know what kind of motor you have (I would like to know what kind I have too). I do not want to run that fast just about 20 mph so I think if I could change the rearend gear to a 15.1 it would work. What do you think, how about you Nate what do you think. Could run 64 volts or 72 what would be best.

We need to know what motor you have to be able to recomend what voltage to run it on to achieve 20mph. 64 or 72v may well be way too much for your needs.
