Default 12v battery question

I need advise on these batteries for building a cart, from the little knowledge I have learned so far it seems they would be a good choice.
I have access to a huge number of these batteries used less than a year.

A good cart battery is around 100 amp- hour. Those have less than 70. Won't be good for run tme. And the price, dang what will your coast be? Get you a new set of Trojans. Just my 2- cents.

If they are free it is a good idea? You won't have the run time of real GC batteries but you won't have the expense either Usually not the recommended choice

OK beege,I should have looked closer at your site. This is a fine battery that you have access to. What you have is phenomenal starting power & massive deep cycle reserve power in one battery. I would buy this battery all day long. In fact this is the same design battery that I have in two of my carts now. I use the Odyssey brand. You will find this battery mostly in the drag carts. It is a deep cycle rechargeable battery, but it has the high amps & the fast discharging rate. These batteries alone will be a big kick in the speed pants. Can you hook me up with a set. And let us know what you do & price. The burst of speed will be worth the loss of run time. Just go with big 1200. Amp bat. 12-volt. You should do fine.

Garage, How many is a set? Where are you located? I am not in the industry, I have a friend that is upgrading many hybrid vehicles to the A123 cells. Some of the batteries have build dates that are a couple months old some a year old. How would I test them to pick the best ones? I am new to the whole electric scene, but very interested in learning. Thanks for the quick replies

,

scotty,

That battery does not work the same way as a deep cycle battery. If the load test is not done right. It will bring harm to the battery. There is a big difference in the amount of time that this battery can be discharge. I will post the #'s soon. I have been following this battery for years. And in a lot of ways this is the best battery for the ev. But by far the closest battery to the ION- Lif. { A123 Battery} Which I use in my drag cart.

It depends on how many I buy. I was planning on buying a couple pallets of these things, but I dont know what the shelf life would be verses how fast I could get rid of them? I wish that you lived closer, I am in Cali I would hook you up with a set to test. I hate to post a price right now because I dont know how many I am buying yet. If the shelf time doesnt hurt them I may buy a ton of them.
