Voltage/Motor Question
Maybe some of you experts can help an electrically challenged newbie out... I have recently upgraded my 05 TXT to a 48 volt system. Yesterday, I decided to replace my 8 6 volt batteries with 6 8 volt batteries with the thought that I can possibly jump up in voltage or have lighter weight to carry. Here's my question... what are my options if I figure out I need more torque or runtime with the following components in the system:
* 700 amp Logisystems controller (48 volt) * EV contactor * HD F/R switch * Stock 36 volt motor |

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
You won't need more torque imho you will have plenty. More run time can only be had by increasing your amperage storage capacity = more lead = going back to eight 6v

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
Scotty... could I do that by adding batteries to my 48 volt pack and maybe bypassing my controller? Or would that be too much for my motor?

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
Your motor could take more voltage but you would have to get a controller rated for the voltage you want to do. Nix on the bypass.

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
So outside of going the other direction on the batteries, would you say my best bet would be to upgrade my motor through D&D, EMP, etc.?

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
Unfortunately, mine doesn't quite get that kind of performance. However, it could have been primarily due to the low performance of the batteries. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be happy with the 8 volt batteries... but will have to see since they only were installed yesterday. Just checking my options in case though.

Re: Voltage/Motor Question
Is the cart for off-road or street use? What size tires? What motor and controller are you using?
