Single seat? Good idea
I think that was the problem with mine.....the back seat kept shouting slow down. The day she sucker punched me in the ribs for going into a curve too fast was her last ride..... |

here is the link for the AGM sealed batteries, - amp rating and prices included. I haven't bought anything from these guys. Shipping on four 12v was reasonable ($21 to Calif.)

Wow smallblock450sl, for someone who is not really into electric you have a (deleted) good grasp on batteries!
Dollar for capacity you can't beat a good golf cart 6 volt battery. For higher voltage I use group 24 12V batteries because I don't have to modify the battery trays. They will not run as long or live as long before replacement is needed as a 6V GC battery. Trade off is speed and acceleration. The life of a 12V battery is greatly influenced by the charging method. |

Nate - can you expand on that? - about the charging prefferences of 12v batteries.

Short answer:
Voltage and current limit when charging. The Delta-Q charger does this and it does temperature sensing as well. I bought one and analyzed it, I like their charging algorithm. (Technical term for the charging profile) |

Nate how much run time do you get out of the group 24 compared to the 6volts and have you tried the spiral celled bats such as the orbital bat.

And also , I was wondering if anyone has tried to improve the 12v pack run time by adding additional batteries in parallel (sp?)?
Examples: Six 12v batts = 72v Pack / 36 cells....but Add 2 batteries in Parrallel = 72v Pack / 48 cells .............of course at this point you've got 8 batteries in your cart but, they are slightly smaller than orig. 48v with six 12v......4 in series plus 2 in parrallel for added amperage reserves? Nate, do you think their are benefits of six 12v would be compared to six 8v batts? Besides the obvious potential of a 72v boost system? And finally, What are the merits of a 60v cart? Why have most mods skipped over the 60v marker? Charger? Would a stock 36v series motor (GE) perform well on 60v as a daily driver? Thanks for the input here, as I am trying to learn this stuff each Q seems to beg another question !? |
