That doesn't sound like too bad of a tradeoff. Are there any long term effects to the motor and/or controller by running a 36V cart on 48 volts? Shorter lifespan? Reliability? Sorry if this is a noob question but I am one. |

A 36V motor run on 48V will probably die from something else long before the extra voltage kills it.

If I were to decide to add two 12v batteries, what kind should I use?

Adding two 6v is about the biggest bang for the buck you can get. If your pack is old, you should find healthy used ones. If your pack is new, add new similar in capacity. Mine was an old pack so I went to interstate and got 2 returns that had been rehabed. It has been a few months and they are doing okay....Came with a 90 day warrany. $36 dollars @. w/ core
