GEM car build

Ive read alot of informative info here so I thought I would pick some brains.

I bought a 2002 GEM car that has a R6 motor in it. After this summer I want to change it back to EV. The set up and suspension are perfect. I want to keep the independent rear suspension, right now it has a Honda Pilot diff in it. I want to marry up a motor to a diff thats not posi. Stay between 72 to 96 volts and do 50 to 60 mph. No tranny using a FNR switch. Not concerned about range. Just want to stay under 3 grand.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say an R6 motor. I have a few GEMs in my area and a great dealer but don't know that much about them either.
This is a fantastic site for golf carts but not many here know much about GEM, Think etc, mainly troubleshooting and mods to golf carts like Ezgo, Club Car and Yamaha etc.
If you are looking for more info on NEV's, I would try someplace that is NEV/electric car oriented like electricforum.com/cars or google GEM forums.

Yamaha R6 out of the street bike.
I was looking more for know how on motor, controller, F&R switch and batteries to use.

The GEM came with a 72v system and I think utilized a 7.5 HP sepex motor with a 72v Curtis controller, rocker switch for F-R and either flooded or gel batteries.
The speed for these carts is up to about 35mph, I think asking for 50 or 60 is dreaming.
I also think your $3K budget is a little light.

Thanks. I was looking for more of a custom set up. The only thing that is "GEM" is the body.
It is rear wheel drive with a atv rear end.

Nice unique fab work on the drive, hyd disc brake and alternator.

I like that dual exhaust.

Any problems with the 1/2 shaft angles?

Looks like an air ride system and he has it slammed for a photo opp. I'd keep the bike engine in it but that's just me as you can tell from my carts.
