Chevys 48 volt (vid)
Well here she is fellas. It was sitting at 52 volts last night when I unplugged the charger and was at 48 volts this morning. The second wheelie is better even though I rolled back a bit quicker. I wont lie but I got a bit nervous and lifted for a second on the 2nd one.
Thanks for all the help. http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/b...t=P8030607.mp4 |

Re: Chevys 48 volt (vid)
I think you have a battery issue. 48v is only 50% capacity. 50.9v is 100%. Basically you lost 50% of your total charge as it sat last night and the video you posted was with the batteries on empty.... time for some battery tests. Can you get a hydrometer like we talked about? Not one with the balls.

Re: Chevys 48 volt (vid)
Here is some of the battery testings I did. The one is the worst out of all but doesnt seem like it needs to be replaced. Maybe a couple cycles (drive then charge) will help

Re: Chevys 48 volt (vid)
You definitely have some cells which are stronger than others there in the pictures.......
Retest & post the readings for each cell. You got issues there from what I see in those pictures....There is a variation of near 50 points from cell to cell or battery to battery. That indicates a problem in the weaker cells. |

Re: Chevys 48 volt (vid)
Yes, that battery has a weak cell as indicated by a specific gravity reading of near 50 points less in one cell than the other..... If you get similar readings from all of the batteries ... that explains how they were 52 volts when you went to sleep and 48 when you woke up.... Just to give you an example the 4 volts that you lost last night was enough juice in an 8- 6v battery pack to have run WOT for about 30 miles. 48v is empty.

Re: Chevys 48 volt (vid)
I charged it fully again after about a 15 min ride and it feels alot stronger. I just pulled a wheelie in my buddies yard and dragged bumper for 10 ft and landed and headlight popped out. I think I'm gonna keep cycling run and charge and I should be good to go.
Seems to be running alot better then this morning. |
