Czonka relay and protective diode
Hi all,
Long time, no post. I finally saved the dough to order my controller and contactor the other day and I'm now awaiting their arrival. In anticipation of this, I've been doing to reading and trying to make sure I do this right. I've ordered the 72 Volt Buggies unlimited controller and a Czonka Kilovac EV200 Relay. http://www.evparts.com/prod-SL2570.htm My question is this: Alltrax website has a PDF document http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/Doc1...ns-Learned.pdf That highly recommends placing a Diode across the contactor coils to keep "fly-back voltage" out of the controller. I believe the Czonka's already have a capacitor built in to prevent arcing. Do they also have this protective diode built-in, or is that something I need to get? I haven't been able to see anything in the Czonka relay's specs, http://www.evparts.com/img/SL2570.pdf but I'm sure someone here probably knows. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Czonka relay and protective diode
They have their own contactor for sale
http://www.buggiesunlimited.com/prod...LN%20UNV%2072V but it's currently listed as "back-ordered," so I went with the Czonka, which seems to receive glowing reviews from everyone. They've been pretty close-mouthed regarding specifics though. I've e-mailed back and forth a lot with some of their (BU's) guys and the only literature I've managed to procure is a wiring diagram for an EZ-Go cart that doesn't actually apply to this controller, but is close (the diagram shows a 0-5Kohm Pot whereas this controller takes a 5-0). In short, I'm hoping some sort of literature comes with it, but otherwise, I'm just left to proceed very carefully. |

Re: Czonka relay and protective diode
They don't have a diode. I have never fealt a need to use one on any of my controller carts. If you think you need one go ahead, it's not gonna hurt anything and should not cost much. I can't comment on the Buggies Unlimited Speed Controller as I have never used one.
