This may seem simple but i need a little help
i'm looking for a way to cut power as i am looking to up the voltage and have heard of sticking solenoids. i am however finding it difficult to find one as i dont know what or how to search/explain what im looking for. so will someone tell me exactly what they are called?or a brand?or what they were origanlly intended for so i can search? i've seen on here the kind of safety shutoff that u simple push or pull a big red button and i've seen what looks like a connector with a loop of wire that u would pull apart if it were to run away. i realize this is probably childs play to u guys but i'm stuck

Re: This may seem simple but i need a little help
what you need is a hd solenoid rated at the voltage you are going to have. if you are going to 48v, get a hd one for that and you will be ok. they do have a battery cut off switch that has a large red key, but you still will need the new solenoid. check with scotty at carts unlimited.
they sell the red key one at hf and places like summit racing. |

the allbright sw200 is a good high current contactor. chinese clones are available here.
emergency switch breakaway connectors you've seen are likely anderson sb175 or sb350. link |

When you start getting into higher voltages and AMP'S they are called contactors. Lower voltage they are solenoids.

What I used as a kill switch is a 300amp stereo fuse. If my boost solenoid fuses and I don't have my boost switch pushed it will short and the fuse will blow. $12 solution.
