Need lots o torque
Hello all. My first post :) I need to put together an electric GC that has a lot of hill climbing power/torque. I have a rather large hill that I go up every day, several times a day to tend to my horses and I need to be able to haul things (grain, hay, etc) up and down the hill. It is about a 30 to 35 degree slope around 75 to 100 feel long and I am tired of carrying everything up it :D I would imagine getting a small trailer that I could fit at least 4 bails of hay on, so towing a combined weight of 800 to 1000 lbs in in order as well. I do not even have a cart yet however I would imagine I am going to have to buy a ragged out one and just do a complete custom to get what I need. My questions are what should I be looking for in a cart and what can I get away with in a power setup. From what I have been reading AC would be the way to go, but I don't know if the budget will handle that. Will a good 48v setup do what I need it to. I need to stay with electric because we go camping a lot at camp grounds that only allow electric carts, thus I want whatever I build to be dual purpose. Hill hauler and camping. Not nearly as concerned with top speed as I am making it to the top :) Any input is greatly appreciated. I have build many cars in my day but this will be my first cart.

Welcome!!!! Sounds like a call to PlumQuick is in your future, they will get your front tires off the ground. They are very helpful, just let them know what your expectations are and they will give you options. 803-548-7205

Re: Need lots o torque
you need to figure out what you budget is before anyone would be able to advise on anything..... Then you have to decide which platform you want to use. After we have a somewhat clearer picture of those 2 items, we can give some advise.......

Re: Need lots o torque
Welcome to BGW! Depending upon your budget we can help you get something that fits, a cart that can pull a trailer up a 35% incline for 100 ft can be found or built... My 48v industrial with 700amps & 10 hp will do that all day long but, like the price of a good head horse... we need to know if your talking $2500 good cart or $5000 good cart

Re: Need lots o torque
Find a series drive ezgo (96 & up) or CC (93 & up) with a plastic body and we can get you set up from there.

Re: Need lots o torque
I just recently bought a 96 ez go, converted from a 36v dcs to a 48v series. I put a 650 amp alltrex controller with d&d torque motor, heavy duty f&r switch, solenoid, and battery cables. 5" lift with 25" mud tires and I have 3300 invested so far. I'm at our deer lease in Georgia and it has no problem whatsoever climbing steep hills. It will pick the front tires up about 9" off the ground and that's with bad leaf springs front and rear and 5 yr old batteries that are not holding a good charge. I've heard a lot of guys on here talk about plumquick alot so that may be something to look in to. Just giving you an idea of what I got and how much invested so far. Just don't do what I did and take the guys word for it that sold me the stock cart and said the batteries were a year old.
