Default How fast could you make a PDS cart?

Just wondering how fast it would be possible to make a PDS cart without smoking anything...or everything? Are there any PDS controllers for more than 48v? Just wondering how fast was really fast for a PDS?

It has gone 38 actually. I was just wondering if anyone knew if any were over 40 or if there was more to be had some kinda way over what I'm doing. I'm really wanting 40.

Does anyone know if there some way to do more than 48v on a PDS platform? I don't know of any controllers that are more than 48v for a PDS. Are there some out there?

Inquiring minds and all of that you know .

Mine goes 30 and that's fast enough for me with those soft sidewall tires.

I guess some 6:1 gears and a few inches bigger on the tires, might get you over 40

72v sepex controllers are made by Curtis, GE, Kelley, Sevcon and Navitas, not sure about Alltrax but they probably have one as well.

we clocked our PDS at 48 mph! 650 amp alltrax. 54 v. 6:1 gears STOCK motor. We do Drag runs only though. regular driving would surely fry the motor

Question Re: How fast could you make a PDS cart?

When you say a PDS platiform you mean with a stock type controller right that uses the stock F/R switch. The controller does the swapping of the direction right. Not a F/R handle.
I don't know of any controller over 48.
My AC conversion controller is 48 also.
I have 2 E-Z-GO'S that are solenoid operated for the F/R switch one is 72 volts the other is 48. Both started out as series carts that I converted to the solenoids.
When you start moving up in voltage you get away from the PDS stuff.

A possible explanation:
When you say a PDS platiform you mean with a stock type controller right that uses the stock F/R switch. The controller does the swapping of the direction right. Not a F/R handle.
You are correct, Ezgo calls them PDS and DCS, Club Car calls them regen and IQ, they are all sepex (separately excited)motors.
I don't know of any controller over 48.
72v sepex controllers are made by Curtis, GE, Kelley, Sevcon and Navitas, and maybe even Alltrax.
My AC conversion controller is 48 also.
AC motors and controllers are available all they way up to 300+v, all Prius, Leaf, Volt, Tesla and others are all AC motors.
I have 2 E-Z-GO'S that are solenoid operated for the F/R switch one is 72 volts the other is 48. Both started out as series carts that I converted to the solenoids.
Those are still series motor carts as the F/R control in any other motor is handled within the controller without the need for solenoids or HD F/R switch.

As far as running a 36v PDS motor on 72v, I don't know why it can't be done but you would have to make sure it's mapped correctly and you don't exceed RPM limits. I'm sure PQ could build a 72v sepex motor and supply the parameters to run it on.
