Default Major Changes

Couldn't have done it without you guys, all comments were/are apreciated.

My conversion consistes of: Voltage upgrade from 36V to 72V, V-Glide to Kelly 72V electronic 500A controller, Cables to #2 size, and added the Quick charger on board battery charger.

I am running a stock motor (not tin can) and 22" mudders. I am still only going about 28-29 on GPS on full charge. Actualy , after the charge wares down a bit it is closer to 25-26.

I would say I have a 25 MPH cart and I want a 35.

I do have a "EMP" motor comming to me on Monday but I don't know if I will get another 10 MPH with it

I don't have anything to compair it with so...

It was pre-programed with the typical configuration that most would use.
100% speed and 50% in reverse, moderate ramp up.

Reverse is still agressive though, even at 50%. I laid rubber in reverse the first time I drove it.

I did learn some things..

My purchaces:
I bought my stuff from from "Battery Powered Systems". They are the same company as "Cloud" ; even though their pricing is a bit different.

They do not know the specifics on ths Kelly product line they sell. They claim (On line) that the Kelly parts require a seporate 12V supply. When I received the product, the diagram shows to wire it with 24V oprion or direct (in this case 72v). I call them and I received !@#%^&&?? and their tech had me contact Kelly direct. I did confirm with Kelly, that I could use 72V signal.

The Wiring:
Kelly diagrams only show how to wire with a solinoid system for F/R.
It took me a few hrs to figure out how to wire my "manual" F/R to do the same thing. (guess I am a little slow). On CC F/R, you have to loop the bottom of the switch to make it work.

All is well so far

This is a fantastic up grade! What batteries are u using and what was your cost? Also what year CC is this in? Have you considered putting high speed rear gears in it to achieve the speed u want?

its a 91 CC which use to be a V-Glide controller.
the first change was a simple batty swap. $350 spent at "Auto Zone" and I had a 25 MPH Cart with twice the power. (That was the most exciting change and it started my obsession.)

I contacted Greg at EMP for a motor re-work. He is a sharp guy. He looked up my area of use and stated that I would pull up to 250 amps on 72V climbing my hills. Based on that i chose a 500A purchace.

Batteries $350
Contactor Used GE 72V $60
#2 Cable material and ends $100
Kelly Controller $500
PB-6 $75 (I think)
Battery charger $400
Fuse block and 400A fuse $50 (I think)
EMP Motor $250

Parts $1800 about
I could have saved several hundred if I chose a smaller controller

My Labor 15 hrs at @ $85= $1300 (What? I cant count that?)

Just $1800 then

I want a solid 35MPH+ and will change to another motor and gears if needed
I think i have enough controller for it

I have come this far, I will spend another 7-8 if needed

The money does add up quick, doesn't it?
I have a 48v 89 CC. Seems like at 72v it would be doing wheelies?
What motor did you get from EMP?

It does wheelies NO PROBLEM and i am not talking about 3" ones
The first time I slammed the throttle down with the V-Glide I could hav flipped it over backwards. No joke! It also destroied the single leaf springs in the rear. I had to get H.D. Multy leaf.

I told Greg that I wanted another 10 MPH on flat. I am happy with current torque, I will even give a little up if needed

i don't know what motor He built for that. i will know in a few days though.

Okay, thanks for getting back to me so quick on that! Well it sounds like you have power to spare so the logical thing to do if the new speed motor doesn't give you what you want - iis to put some taller gears into the rear end. How about some pics of the install?
