Default 1994 EZGO industrial moves slow

I have a 1994 36 volt EZGO 4 pass industrial cart, similar to a Cushman Titan. I know this cart is not a speed demon but it seems to have trouble with uneven ground and grades. What bothers me is that when I press the pedal, I hear the solenoid click immediately, but the cart doesn't start to move until the pedal is halfway to the floor. I tried another set of batteries even though the original set tested fine.

The cart has a 73124-G02 fleet motor and a 1205-112 Curtis controller.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Measure the resistance on your pot. It should be near 0Ω with the pedal at rest and near 5,000Ω with the pedal fully depressed. If you don't get these readings you may be able to adjust your throttle linkage for a little more travel. You must have 0Ω with the pedal at rest or the cart will try to move as soon as the solenoid engages! Other things to check are the condition of your batteries and all your cable connections. Mine is a 99 model 881, and it's top speed is 12mph.

I'll check the resistance next chance I get. I wish the cart would engage sooner, as it doesn't move now until the pedal is halfway depressed. I thought about playing with the linkage but the range of motion looked normal. I've also tried 2 sets of batteries reading over 38 volts. I have access to one more set of batteries which I'll try if all else fails.

Cool Re: 1994 EZGO industrial moves slow

There is a set screw on the pot box lever arm that tightens the lever to the pot. It could be loose are the pot is way out of whack. Should be 0-5k.

I have come to find out that the cart has an industrial fleet motor, top speedof about 12mph. It can only handle up to a 15% grade and it likes mostly hard surfaces. I did check the pot and it was within specs. I guess it runs the way it was meant to in an industrial setting---SLOW! Thanks for the tips.

the 73124-G02 motor is a standard motor and you should have normal performance. You have got to have something wrong somewhere?

Found this link.

Make sure the 1/2 speed micro switch isn't engaging when not suppose to.
When you tested the pot did it start moving as soon as you pressed the pedal are did it take a while?
If it did then the pot would seem to be ok and maybe slipping. If it had the delay in it then it could have dead spots in it.
