Default emp motor

what is the downside to having emp rewind your motor instead of paying a few hundred more for a different high speed motor? i have an emp on my 95 club car 48v and i'm getting 25 mph on my gps with stock cables and controller. is my motor pulling to much amperage and the stock controller will fail sooner?

They build them to work with your exsisting stock controller. I would suppose any added stress will have an effect on the life of the controller but I have never heard of one failing due to the motor.(not saying it doesn't happen.) Most other high speed motors suggest using at least a 400 amp controller.

Simple, is the controller getting hot or going into thermal shutdown? If not then you are not being to hard on the controller.
Speed motors are simply "torque through amps" motors, they have a lower CEMF (back EMF or generator effect) so they rev higher but at the cost of more amperage. Since controllers are basically variable power regulators you will loose torque when a high-speed motor is installed with a stock controller. The motor wants amps to develop torque but the controller says, "no way, you are at max allowed amperage now".

Roady is correct in his thinking, if you run a 300 amp controller at 300 amps all the time it probably will not live as long as the 300 amp controller run at 200 amps or a 600 amp controller run at 400 amps.

Guys just got my G8 setup with the EMP motor redesign. It is great! I had them do the 2 speed redesign with the band for the armeture. I just have the 36 volt system now but I plan on an upgrade to 48 volts. The first run was just over 25mph. With the 48 volt system Andrea from EMP said I should be just over 30mph.
