I would suggest going to newer cart for 72v upgrade. I upgraded my 82 ezgo to 72 v and have spent more money on it than I could ever get back out of it.
But if you want to do it you will need to remove all resistors, throttle assembly, and solenoid. Purchase new solenoid, pb-6 pot box(throttle), controller capable of handling 72v,(I'd suggest a 48-72v controller), new batteries, new cables of at least 4ga welding wire, cable fittings, and a new charger. Then you would wire it all together using a series wiring diagram that best fits your cart.
Then you would want to install front disc brakes(what goes fast has to be able to stop). Then after it runs fast you would want it to look good, so you need new wheels, tires lift kit, diamond plate here, there, everywhere.

MIKE- yea i feel you -i know its not cheap -- but the charger -batteries-cables im not worried about --i did hear i would need a PB-6 controller -new resistors-and solenoids- resistors i found for 14 bucks and solenoids i have some laying around that are good from my lowrider with 6 batteries -- the pb-6 controller i found for around 56 bucks -- if you any links that sell this controller or any engine parts let me know --Thanks

A PB-6 is a potentiometer throttle made by Curtis Instruments. A controller is a whole other deal. A PB-6 won't do any good on a resistor cart, there is no use for it on a resistor cart.

Roady, Dropnbombs is very new to carts and I think I confused him with fast talking cart jargon. I am breaking my info down to simpler terms until he gets up to speed. I also told him not to spend any money until he was sure he knew what he was getting.
