Size of battery cable
I am trying to figure out what size cable is on my newly refurbished cart. It has all new cables on it and they have the number 2 on the cable .Are they 2 gauge or would they be marked 2/0 to be 2 gauge. I didnt want to order an upgrade cable set if they are already big enough. thanks

Re: Size of battery cable
I looked at all my cables today, all of them are 2 gauge fine strand welding cable except the two long ones going to the motor. They are 4 gauge, would i notice any performance increase changing those two cables over to 2 gauge?

Re: Size of battery cable
Indeed you will, if you are using it to the limit of the 4 gauge. I believe the entire power system (definitely including the cables) is only as good as the weakest, or in this case the narrowest, link.

Re: Size of battery cable
The only reason to not change the those 2 cables is if it's a Ezgo PDS cart. The 2 smaller cables to the motor don't have to be swapped out to see max flow.
If it's a series cart then yes swap them. |

Re: Size of battery cable
It is a PDS. I'm planning on upgrading to an Alltrax controller soon. it already has the bigger cables and a bigger solenoid on it now. I added a factory EZGO 4" lift and 20" tires . should i go with a 400 amp controller or a 500 amp ? I want to use the stock motor as long as i can , but need to gain some torque .I plan on ordering whatever i need fom ScottyB in a week or two.
